Dr. Chana Poomee, Chairman of Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) chaired 1/2024 TCMA Board of Directors Meeting. The vision on “Synergizing the actions towards Net Zero 2050” has been announced with comprehensive actions in 4 focus areas during 2024-2026: - 1) CLIMATE CHANGE: Research and Development of New Low-Carbon Cement ‘Calcined Clay Cement’ after successful transition to hydraulic cement, 2) RESOURCE USE: Accelerating the expansion of green mining practice to maximize resource-efficiency according government policy, 3) CIRCULAR ECONOMY: Building an integrated ecosystem and turning waste to value through cement production process according to bio-green-circular economy, and 4) ENERGY TRANSITION: Leveraging innovation for energy transition of cement industry.

TCMA is cement manufacturer-led, Thai leading cement manufacturers coalition advocating for cement industry being basic infrastructure of the country development, becoming environmentally friendly industry, committing to social responsibilities engagement and leading towards sustainable development.

Third Progress Study to Decarbonize Cement Manufacturing

The team of Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA)- led by Khun Surachai Vangrattanachai, Chair of Working Group TCMA on Innovation and Technology and the team of Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy- led by Dr. Saravanee Singtong, Director of Sustainable Policy Division provided technical advice to the team of Nomura Research Institute Thailand-led by Khun Kraiwin Lertsakornsiri, Senior Consultant of Consulting Department in the 3rd progress report of carbon dioxide (CO2) to methanol with aims at decarbonization in cement manufacturing.

Fourth Meeting in 2024 of Working Group TCMA on Innovation and Technology

Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) members’ representative attended 4/2024 meeting of Working Group TCMA on Innovation and Technology, chaired by Khun Surachai Vangrattanachai. The meeting discussed on work progress and related matters to reach goal as set ‘leveraging innovation for energy transition of cement industry’, including the grant green fund from Canada government through UNIDO to help decarbonizing of cement and concrete sectors in Thailand.
