Collaboration with UNIDO to Accelerate Decarbonization in Cement and Concrete Sectors in Thailand

  The joint meeting among the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)-led by Project Coordinator Rasha Abdrabu, Global Cement and Consrete Association (GCCA)-led by Chief Executive Thomas Guillot, Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA)-led by Khun Surachai Vangrattanachai, Chair Working Group TCMA on Innovation and Technology and Thailand Concrete Association (TCA)-led by President Dr. Nattapong Makaratat has been organized to find way forward in developing the appropriate projects under the grant green fund valued CAD 8 million to help decarbonize Thai cement and concrete sectors, contributing to reducing emissions and meeting a Net Zero Future in partnership with Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

TCMA Board of Directors Meeting

Dr. Chana Poomee, Chairman of Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) welcomed Board of Directors and members to 3/2024 TCMA Board of Directors Meeting. Work progress of each working group in line with the TCMA’s policy focus has been reported, including in-house matters of cement industry brought into discussion. TCMA is cement manufacturer-led, Thai leading cement manufacturers coalition advocating for cement industry being basic infrastructure of the country development, becoming environmentally friendly industry, committing to social responsibilities engagement and leading towards sustainable development.

Khun Monwikan Kajohnboon, Secretary of Working Group TCMA-Environment and Climate Action, Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) led the team presented cement industry point of views in focus group on Thailand Taxonomy-construction and manufacturing sector to review technical screening criteria, organized by Working Committee on Thailand Taxonomy in collaborating with Department of Climate Change and Environment, Bank of Thailand, Stock Exchange of Thailand, and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
